Snakes in season...

I was in the garage and Ma came in and asked if I heard her scream. I figured maybe one of those pesky wasps got a hold of her, but instead it turned out to be a tiny little baby snake.

She'd bought some new gutter down spout splash guards and when she picked one of the old ones up at the back corner of the house, there was the snake, just minding its own business. She found another under the splash guard on the other side of the house too, and a snake skin beside it.

I used a swifter stick to move both of the little guys to the edge of the treeline in the backyard. Not sure what kind of snakes they are, but they were striking at the swifter stick pretty aggressively, probably just upset at being evicted from the nice comfy spots they'd taken up residence in. Both were under a foot long, thereabouts.

Pictures are a bit blurry since I was barefoot and paranoid about stepping on any other slithery siblings that might be nearby, lol...

A subreddit 'snakes' member ID'd them as 'brown snakes'. A Facebook friend had called 'em 'chicken snakes', and they would fall under that umbrella term that also includes a variety of snakes, like rat snakes, black snakes, corn snakes and many others. ;)
