National DO NOT CALL list

Important information regarding your cell phone: *As noted in the 'Comments', Snopes.com says this is false information getting passed around by forwarded emails. But, I received a spam text to my cell phone after reading this info. Coincidental? Maybe, but it doesn't hurt to register your ph# with the list, and registering a home ph# definitely helps stop some of the telemarketers.

REMINDER...6 days from today, all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls.

...YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS

To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone:

888-382-1222.

It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time.
It blocks your number for five (5) years.
You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked.
You cannot call from a different phone number.

HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS.
It take about 20 seconds.

You can also register at: www.donotcall.gov

Interesting... I'd received the email from my dad a couple of days ago and just yesterday I received a text message to my cell phone from some online dating service. I rarely use my cell phone, and don't give the number out, it's primarily just for emergencies, so I wonder how my number was obtained for the text message?

I've recently been recieving calls daily from HSBC(Household bank-18003952274) to my cell phone for the past week. I have no idea how they got my cell phone #. They're automated calls that say 'Please hold' and mention Household bank,at which point I hung up.

I've emailed the company to remove my name and number and cease all calls. They responded that they'd forward my request to the proper department.
